Job Summary
Monday - Friday. Evaluates, plans and implements specific treatment programs for patients in order to increase ROM, strength and functional abilities of the upper extremity. Facilitates the learning of skills and functions by the patient/family essential for daily living and productivity. Reports to Clinical Coordinator or Assistant Director as appropriate.
Applies appropriate diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint and functional ability tests based upon patient's diagnosis and response. Records, dictates and interprets all evaluation data. Plans therapy program for each patient including exercise, modalities and sensorimotor activities based on the patient's needs, type of dysfunction, physical capacity and intelligence level. Designs and fits adaptive devices such as splints, braces, ADL devices and tools based on patient rehabilitation needs. Teaches patients/families the skills and techniques required for participation in therapy. Adapts these techniques to meet the comprehension level of the patient. Prepares daily treatment reports summarizing treatment rendered and patient's response. Consults with physicians on patient's progress through verbal and written progress reports. Establishes realistic goals for patients and revises treatment program as needed.
Bachelor's Degree from accredited program in Occupational Therapy. Sufficient previous experience. Registration and current licensure in Mississippi. Must demonstrate ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle aged, and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures. Registration and current licensure in Mississippi.
