About the role
Description
- Maintain building and grounds in a safe, healthful, workable condition.
- Regularly inspect facility to determine where repairs, extra cleaning etc. are needed.
- Keep work area and supplies organized, presentable, and secure.
- Repair windows, walls, doors, and locks as needed.
- Replace light fixtures as needed.
- Sweep, wash, vacuum floors daily in kitchen and dining room weekly; stairs, hallways, activity rooms or as needed; Wax floors as needed.
- Empty baskets daily and put out garbage on appropriate days; Maintain garbage pails; Clean up rubbish area as needed; Sweeping and/or shoveling daily, depending upon weather conditions.
- General interior painting.
- Inspect and report on safety and maintenance of agency vehicles.
- Check fire extinguisher/s, emergency lights, and generators regularly.
- Maintain appropriate temperature in building(s).
- Be responsible to handle emergency situations; On call 24 hours a day.
- Do emergency snow/ice removal and flood cleanup.
- Service and maintain the swimming pool where appropriate.
- Assist residents when appropriate in the training of maintenance chores.
- Other tasks, workshops and trainings related to the Agency and maintenance.
- May require 24 hours coverage and availability.
- Ensure environmental safety for the protection of the residents.
- Other duties assigned by Residence Management.

Requirements
High School Diploma or a GED and any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Valid & Unrestricted N.Y.S. Driver’s License. Good verbal communication skills, highly motivated and have a positive attitude.
