About you and this role

We are looking for you, an ambitious master’s degree student, to support our marketing and business development team by doing an internship project in assessing a specific market for our location in Milan, Italy.

The department that will welcome you deals with the sales of polyurethane systems in Industrial Markets. It is a highly specialized area of the Polyurethane envelope of Dow, and you will be part of its marketing and business development team, whose goal is to offer the strategic view on our long-term roadmap.

The intern will help us explore the European market for Polyurethane adhesives and sealants. In this role, you'll dive deep into market research and analysis, uncovering key segments, competitors, trends, and growth opportunities within the industry. Working closely with our R&D and operational teams, you'll evaluate market segments based on our capabilities, gathering and presenting insights in actionable formats. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, customer interactions, and dashboard development are all part of the exciting mix. Your ability to deliver clear, concise recommendations to local teams and senior management will be key.

Responsibilities

Few of the core responsibilities of the internship will be:

• To conduct comprehensive market research to understand the current landscape of the polyurethane adhesive and sealants market in Europe.
• To identify and analyze key market segments, including but not limited to construction, automotive, aerospace, packaging, and electronics industries.
• To assess market size, growth potential, trends, and drivers within each identified segment.
• To identify and profile major competitors operating within the polyurethane adhesive and sealants market in Europe, focusing on their competitive positioning, product offerings, pricing strategies, and market share.
• To prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing market findings, insights, and recommendations.
• To collaborate closely with the internal R&D department to understand our current and potential capabilities in polyurethane adhesive and sealant technologies.

Qualifications

• You are currently studying for a master’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry or any related material science field.
• You have a good working knowledge of English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Prior experience or coursework in market research, competitive analysis, or strategic planning is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to collect, organize, and interpret large datasets.
• You are available as of June 2024 for a period of 8-9 months (exact timing to be discussed).

Preferred Skills

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
• Proficiency in market research techniques and tools, including but not limited to data analysis software, industry databases, and online research resources.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Demonstrated interest in the chemicals, adhesives, or sealants industry is preferred.

• Legal entitlement through EU citizenship or a valid VISA for working in the project country.
