The University of Iowa Health Care Downtown Campus intends to hire for two positions at either the Imaging Technologist classification or Senior Imaging Technologist, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. The University of Iowa Health Care Downtown Campus Department of Radiology is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist or an Imaging Technologist to work with physicians in the diagnosis of patients by performing technical radiographic and fluoroscopic, computerized tomographic, and diagnostic radiologic
University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown (located at 500 E. Market Street, Iowa City, IA) is a 194-bed hospital that became part of Iowa’s only comprehensive academic health system on Jan. 31, 2024.
Additional Duties:
- Assists physicians with imaging procedures.
- Completes continuing education in order to maintain Permit to Practice and ARRT registry
- Interviews patients and records appropriate clinical history relative to CT and diagnostic procedures.
- Introduces self, calls the guests by name, explains the examination to the patient. Provides care and protection of patients during procedures, assuming care for the emotional, psychological and physical needs, while adhering to TJC Patient Safety Goals.
- Maintains equipment in the work area and reports down time to the appropriate personnel.
- Identifies, accesses and prepares medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Prepares and assists with or administers materials, including opaque media, contrast media and barium, while adhering to patient safety goals.
- Prepares patients for extensive CT and diagnostic radiologic procedures by determining technical factors and procedures appropriate for patient's age, processing films and scheduling examinations properly. Operates radiographic CT and diagnostic imaging equipment within the department, practicing appropriate radiation protection and safety.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Percent of Time: 100%
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 9:30pm-8:00am, rotating holidays and occasional weekends.
Pay Grade: 5
The department will be filling this position at one of two levels. The Imaging Technologist classification salary is 4, and the Senior Imaging Technologist classification salary is 5. You must indicate in your cover letter the level of classification (Imaging Technologist and/or Senior Imaging Technologist) you wish to be considered for or indicate both.
