Sales and Use Tax Advisor

Job Summary
Western Midstream is looking to fill the position of a Sales and Use Tax Advisor. This role will be responsible for handling all aspects of sales and use tax for Western Midstream, including monthly returns, taxability of transactions and audit support. Qualifications

The ideal candidate must:

• Have a minimum of 5 years of sales and use tax experience;
• Have a working knowledge of Vertex and SAP systems;
• Well organized and detailed oriented;
• Have strong analytical and research skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask and work towards tight deadlines;
• Ability to interact and use influencing skills effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as with external business partners;

• Have flexible work attitude and ability to successfully manage changing priorities; and
• Experience in oil and gas industry is a plus

 

Responsibilities

• Prepares and processes Sales & Use tax returns and payments electronically accurately and timely as required by taxing jurisdictions to ensure all Sales & Use tax filing deadlines;
• Research and provide resolution to issues with respect to indirect taxes
• Collaborates with internal teams, including procurement and operations, to drive efficiencies;
• Analyze taxability issues, design and implement practical solutions;
• Train, support and advise business on indirect tax matters;
• Maintain tax knowledge by studying new tax regulations and directives; obtain tax opinions and interpretations; attend seminars; study proposed tax legislation
• Review purchasing contracts and purchase orders for proper language to mitigate indirect tax risk
• Lead and execute testing on various system driven initiatives; and
• Lead, plan and coordinate all aspects of the statutory audit and post audit protests; gather the necessary data to support transactions or tax positions

 

 

Education
Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

 

 

Relocation
This position is not eligible for relocation.

 

 

Travel Requirements
The percentage of travel required for this position is 0-10%.

 

 

Work Schedule
This position is eligible for the Monday-Thursday 9 hours, Friday 4 hours with alternating weeks working from home and office.
