Lead and/or execute E3 activities to achieve and maintain broad knowledge of NASA Program and Projects architectures to enable the formulation of recommendations to NASA Program and Project Management with a focus on achieving an understood, balanced, consistent, and acceptable risk posture for Human Spaceflight Mission Directorate Missions, as well as other NASA missions.
Serve as an executive consultant to NASA partners, including commercial entities and collaborating international governments, upon request by NASA Program-Level or NASA Project-level management.
Chairing working groups, ad hoc teams, and TIMs as necessary
Guide and mentor less experienced NASA E3 practitioners at MSFC and other NASA Centers to enable the experienced-based development of future Subject Matter Experts specializing in space systems
Serve on Cross-cutting panels, working groups, and study teams with specialists and subject matter experts from related disciplines as necessary
Skills Required
This task requires scientists or engineers with electrical engineering and/or physics skills with an E3 background. Individuals working this sub-task shall meet the following minimum criteria:
• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent plus minimum 25 years of direct E3 experience in NASA Human Spaceflight missions
• Technical writing and presentation capabilities
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464, NASA, Center, and other E3 and EMI specifications
• Familiarity with common computer operating systems and Microsoft Office software
Qualifications:
A degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university preferred, with the below years of required experience needed to qualify. Must be a US Citizen and have a STAR ID.
• Ph.D., with minimum of 24 years of experience,
• MS with at least 28 years of experience, or
• BS with at least 30 years of experience
Essential Functions
Work Environment:
Office environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (5%). Requires ability to work at a computer for long periods of time (100%).
Physical Requirements:
Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (80%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and our facilities (10%).

Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).
