Job Description

Principal Engineer, Data Analytics and Governance is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) that will play a pivotal role transforming and continuously improving the data analytics processes & conditions for CAPA & NC, at a global level and developing innovative solutions for data management and reporting to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

 

This position will play a pivotal role in global collaboration, working closely with teams and stakeholders across Americas, EMEA, Japan, China, and APAC region to understand requirements, deliver tailored solutions improving efficiency and standardizing NC and CAPA metrics. Collaboration will be facilitated through proactive initiatives such as invitations and on-request support. Additionally, the candidate will create a network to inform, educate, and support teams, exploring needs within the department and beyond.

 

Provide technical support to users, ensuring seamless utilization of data management and reporting tools.
Conduct training sessions and create user documentation to facilitate understanding and adoption.
Organize and execute periodic reporting processes to communicate key insights and performance metrics to functional stakeholders.

 

This role plays a crucial part in supporting the CAPA department and processes, leveraging data management to inform, support, and drive continuous improvement. By creating robust reporting mechanisms, the Data Analytics and Governance engineer contributes to the overall mission of Olympus to enhance patient outcomes and uphold the highest standards in the medical device industry.

Job Duties

  • Serve as Subject Matter expert, conduct deep analysis of existing data to identify areas of improvement and escalations.
  • Utilize data analysis tools and techniques to extract, cleanse, and analyse data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in data to inform decision-making.
  • Develop and implement Data systems & tools for driving CAPA and NC results globally. 
  • Provide problem solving support for key issues, based on data analytics, reviews with stakeholders and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Collaborate with NC and CAPA feeder Process owners for early detection of Quality issues.
  • Change agent to facilitate effective deployment of Global analytics tools and continuous improvement. 
  • Support Internal and external audits with Data and Resports.
  • Provides training, guidance, and is a resource support for end users.
  • Supports defining project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases, and elements.
  • All Other Essential Duties as assigned by Management. 

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • BA/BS engineering, quality, statistics discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience required; Medical device industry experience required.
  • Background and familiarity with QMS to International Regulations and standards. 
  • Strong Knowledge of lean, six sigma, kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.  Familiarity with basic statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of quality management systems for CAPA & NC management, best practices, processes, and technology. 
  • Global working hours
  • Occasionally international travel

 

Preferred:

  • Black Belt / Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Continuous improvement techniques and/or demonstrated problem-solving and root cause techniques is a plus.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of Agile & Power BI desired.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in selecting, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
