The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
The Executive Director of Student Engagement, under general direction, provides leadership in the planning, coordination, development, and execution of University policies, procedures, and practices relating to the comprehensive scope of Student Engagement. The Executive Director oversees Student Government Association, Student Organizations, Student Leadership Initiatives, and service opportunities for the campus community. Coordinates project management for major student initiatives from conception to completion. The Executive Director works to ensure and maintain an environment that supports the strategic plan for the university and the Division for Student Affairs.
Responsibilities:
Provides leadership for the Office of Student Engagement, an area under the Division for Student Affairs. Duties include, but are not limited to, strategic planning for Student Engagement, assessment and evaluation of processes and resource allocation, developing and adhering to the area budget, ultimate responsibility for the programs, and leadership development for student leaders, clubs and organizations, and groups served by Student Engagement.
Oversees overall functioning of the Office of Student Engagement, including supervision of six staff members including Assistant Directors, Program Coordinators, Administrative Assistant, and a Budget Specialist; develops and monitors office budget to ensure effective fiscal management; provides strategic direction and assurance of thorough assessment of office programs and services that reflects a holistic approach to student outreach and learning. Lead the planning efforts as cochair of the university Homecoming Committee; Administers and monitors approximately $1.6M budget; prepares logistics for the events for the entire week of homecoming; convenes and facilitates weekly meetings; negotiates contracts and develops marketing plans to ensure effective coordination of the annual Homecoming week activities.
Serves as primary advisor to the Student Government Association. Adheres to policies and procedures, including judicial processes, financial oversight, budgeting, marketing, and communication for various constituent groups, vendor and donor relationships, student travel, inventory management, document review, and other tasks as required by the group or department. Provide student leaders and student organizations with leadership development, training and development for students and advisors, risk management activities, programming and logistics of events, recruitment and retention, evaluation of programs, and other tasks as required by the group or department.
Develops and nurtures collaborative relationships across campus to ensure a quality program and activity partnerships such as Athletics, Greek Organizations, Office of Student Conduct, Campus Activities Board
