About the role

Alloy Engineering is  seeking a Cost Accountant to join our dynamic team in our Berea, OH office. In this role, you will be responsible for the cost accounting function. This is an individual contributor role that requires strong attention to detail, financial acumen, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Cost Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze costs of raw materials, labor, and overheads to provide detailed cost information to management.
  • Prepare regular reports comparing actual costs to budgeted costs and provide variance analysis.
  • Identify cost drivers and recommend cost-saving or efficiency-improvement opportunities.

2. Inventory Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels and reconcile inventory accounts.
  • Calculate and apply inventory reserves and adjustments.
  • Coordinate with production and procurement teams to ensure accurate cost allocations.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in preparing annual budgets related to manufacturing and operational costs.
  • Support forecasting activities by providing cost-related data and insights.

4. Financial Analysis:

  • Participate in financial analysis projects such as product cost analysis, pricing analysis, and profitability analysis.
  • Provide support during financial audits by preparing schedules and conducting audit-related research.
  • Ensure all financial data is recorded accurately,


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a cost accountant or similar role in a job shop manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Proficient in using accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Visibility, SAP, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.
  • Ability to work independently and cross functionally  and meet deadlines.
  • Strong  communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
