Junior Building Custodian

Overview

This is a provisional appointment.

 

Under supervision, performs a variety of ordinary maintenance tasks of a semiskilled nature to buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities

• Performs window cleaning, interior and exterior.
• Cleans walls and lavatories.
• Moves furniture.
• Sweeps and mops floors.
• May make adjustments and repairs to toilets, sinks, and drinking fountain mechanisms.
• May change bulbs.
• May paint and perform minor carpentry work.
• Cuts grass and trim bushes.
• Strips, washes, and waxes floors.
• Performs all cleaning duties involved with buildings and grounds and shovels snow.
• Uses floor buffers, lawn mowers, weed whackers, snow blowers, and plow equipment that do not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Picks up refuse around the grounds.
• Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications

• Applicants must have knowledge of cleaning methods and materials.
• Must be in good physical condition.
• Must be able to understand and follow simple oral instructions.
• Must be self-motivated. 
• Must have the ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. 
• Massachusetts driver's license preferred. 

 

THIS POSITION COULD BE ASSIGNED TO ANY BPD WORK LOCATION.
