Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Life Science Technology Development, the Project Manager of Therapeutic Technology Commercial Development leads the milestone-driven development of therapeutic technologies, including novel molecules, synthetic biology, novel therapeutic targets, and similar from early-stage to licensable, proof-of-concept stage products.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:

Evaluating

• Identifying novel molecules, synthetic biology, and novel therapeutic target assets with potential for clinical benefit and commercial viability based on research at UT Austin and its affiliates.

• Developing a technology development network and regulatory resource pathways and creating a process to match technologies with the best-fit resource.

• Develop regulatory evaluations, pathways, and programs for these assets.

• Manage technology development projects selected as having the greatest likelihood of commercial success.

Managing

• Managing technology development professionals, including employees, vendors, and contractors.

• Upholding compliance with regulatory requirements in all areas of operations.

• Developing and implementing operational plans for technology development that work toward the organization’s strategic priorities. Assisting with developing key performance indicators to track progress towards those goals.

Collaborating

• Collaborating on developing business plans and investor materials for early-stage technology development funding.

• Developing relationships and securing resources from governmental, non-profit, and for-profit organizations to support technology development.

• Integrating and collaborating with other UT Austin business development and IP management teams.

• Contributing to the achievement of revenue and technology development funding targets.

• Contributing to growing a culture of innovation at UT Austin by educating faculty and staff about technology commercialization and inspiring records of invention.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the health care industry (regulatory and pre-clinical development).

• Training in Engineering or science, technology, or mathematics discipline 

• A minimum of 7 years of demonstrated success in team participation.

• Significant experience with therapeutic technology development and commercialization.

• Experience in managing vendors and contractors in technology development.

• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to therapeutics and synthetic biology.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience forging strategic relationships with industry, investors, and regional economic development organizations.

• A degree, preferably an advanced degree, in Life Science or Bio-Engineering.

• An MBA degree.

Salary Range

$120,000+ depending on qualifications
