PreAccess Team Lead

Surgical Services I Lexington, KY

Full-Time I First Shift  

Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department.

Description:

  • Interviews, orients, and trains scheduling personnel.
  • Maintains department policies, procedures, and required educational training.
  • Responsible for productivity of area scheduling staff.
  •  Communicates concerns to Business Manager.
  • Exhibits knowledge of surgical procedures, codes, surgical preparation, and medical terminology.
  • Exhibits knowledge of EPIC Scheduling.
  • Shows in depth knowledge of surgical processes 9equipment, positioning, instrumentation, vendor information).
  • Has Knowledge of information required to begin the registration/scheduling process, demographics, insurance and precertification information.
  • Instructs office staff regarding need or follow-up.
  • Ability to perform scheduling functions.
  • Answers incoming calls in a timely manner (3 ring), never ignores calls waiting and answers calls in queue.
  • Completes scheduling functions prior to ending call with MD office.
  • Enters information accurately including personal data, procedure, practitioner, sire and anesthesia.
  • Compiles necessary data accurately in system according to guidelines and in a timely manner.
  • Updates schedules accurately when changes and cancellations are made.
  • Maintains records and reports as directed.

Requirements:

  • LPN or MA.
  • 3 years’ experience related field.
  • Training in Medical Clerical or Clerical and computer experience.
  • Minimum one year experience in services related area (registration, preadmission, surgical scheduling, and appointment scheduling).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Able to concentrate on multiple details with constant interruption.
  • Computer knowledge to include Microsoft Word, and Excel.
