Green End Operator

Job Purpose

To maintain consistent flow of logs from hot ponds through debarker to tree length waferizer to provide raw wood materials for the wafer wood process.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

Maintains consistent wood flow from hot ponds through debarker to waferizer ensuring that logs run straight and singly.

Operating PC controls, joysticks while continuously monitoring log transfer operations on video screens.

Ensures specified pressure on tool arms of debarker is maintained.

Changes knives on tree length flaker when they become dull to maintain quality furnish.

Greases, adjusts, and performs required maintenance PM activities.

Observes all environmental and safety rules and regulations.

Performs general cleanup activities such as sweeping and shoveling of debris.

Able to read a dial indicator to accurately take knife projections.

Assists with basic maintenance activity on equipment during shut down activities.

Willingness to work additional shifts.

Training of new Green end Operators

 

What do I need to be successful?

Skills, knowledge, abilities:

Forklift license

Valid driver’s license

Knowledge of safety rules and regulations

Strong communication skills

Excellent eye / hand coordination

Chain saw operation.

Experience w/ HMI controls

Able to multi-task with focus on multiple items at the same time. 

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent desired

Uncomfortable season temperature fluctuations

Repetitive stairway travel.
