Job Description

We are seeking a physician with experience and training in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine and Apheresis at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, tenure eligible, in the Clinical Scholar track or Clinical Educator track. Rank will be commensurate with training, experience, and academic record. 

Clinical service responsibilities include supporting therapeutic apheresis and cellular therapy services, a hospital-based Blood Donor Center, and the blood bank laboratory.  Clinical responsibilities will support Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and its affiliates.

The Department has an ACGME accredited residency program where faculty are expected to take an active role in the training and teaching of Pathology residents and participate in inter- and intra- departmental conferences. The candidate will also take an active role in the training of a Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine fellow and instruct medical students at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. Sufficient time will be allocated to pursue academic interests and translational research. 

Applicants must have an M.D., M.D. /Ph.D., or equivalent degree. Candidates must possess or be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Also, candidates must be board certified or board-eligible in Blood Banking /Transfusion Medicine through the American Board of Pathology.
