Position Description
The Assistant Director of Youth and Career Development oversees the operational and programmatic success of GCC’s out-of-school and teen employment programming for High School (and transitioning) age youth. The Assistant Director (AD) supports the coordination of youth centered internal and external career partnerships. City/County Partnerships will be a key responsibility for the AD to maintain and grow.
Requirements
Essential Functions
- Lead the high school team with high expectations, consistency and positivity while performing supervisory duties including performance coaching, annual reviews, interviews, hires, discipline, etc.??
- Lead the development of programming activities and curriculum keeping staff and youth engaged including monitoring trends to remain relevant and desirable to youth
- Lead school year and summer-camp program planning, calendars, and communications.?
- Take initiative to ensure department follows administrative systems, grant outcomes and integrity of program purpose.
- Build and maintain internal and external partnerships to support teen employment and high school programming in a way that aligns with GCC program purpose
- Collaborate with other Youth AD to create and implement transition planning for middle school students transition to high school.?
- Develop outreach and recruitment plans for high school age youth and youth transitioning into adulthood.?
- Develop creative recruitment and support for youth and families in low-income areas in our community.?
- Ensure equitable processes and opportunities for staff and youth throughout employment and program.?
- Create and implement an orientation for youth and families.?
- Represent GCC positively speaking as an agent of the organization throughout the community, at professional organizations, or public events.?
- Observe and fill-in for department staff fostering a supportive environment.?
- Create and oversee budgets for high school and TEENworks teen employment program
- Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within this position's duties.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience working with middle/high school age youth in a human services/family/youth development setting.?Preference for experience with youth employment programming and laws.
- Prior program planning and supervisory experience.?
- Excellent written and verbal comprehension and communication.?
- Ability to use computers daily in an interactive manner for extended periods of time as necessary.?
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.??
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report to be trained to drive a GCC van.?
- Occasional weekend and evening hours based on program needs.?
