Job Description Summary

The Project Engineering Manager oversees the organization of engineering activities within their scope to ensure the deployment of solutions and associated services in compliance with quality, cost, deadlines, safety, and environmental requirements. The Engineering Department Manager also ensures the cohesion and effective operation of their engineering teams in the cluster and their various sites/countries. They supervise daily activities as well as the priorities and the budget allocated to their team. They are responsible for the execution of activities and projects, achievement of defined objectives, development, and adherence to processes specific to their area of responsibility.

Roles and Responsibilities

Role-related Activities

• Allocate resources to projects/services according to needs expressed by project leaders within the cluster and across several sites/countries.

• Prepare and periodically update the team’s activity schedule, ensuring a balance between the forecasted needs expressed by project leaders and the team’s resources.

• Monitor each project/assignment, from launch phase to completion of contractual obligations.

• Be responsible for the technical quality of the department’s deliverables and ensure that the various development phases are properly executed.

• Coordinate the department’s activities in collaboration with cross-functional services and other relevant departments.

• Implement processes and traceability to guarantee the quality of deliverables.

• Establish internal governance in agreement with other stakeholders concerning project planning, content, and delivery.

• Ensure the deployment of harmonized processes, practices, methods, and tools within the department.

• Ensure and involve the team in continuous improvement of existing processes (reduction/elimination of non-value-added tasks, automation, etc.).

• Ensure the team escalates anomalies to the R&D teams.

• Facilitate relationships/interactions with R&D teams.

• Participate in R&D and Project quality meetings.

• Promote the expertise and know-how of the department both internally and externally.

• Participate in technology monitoring and communicate relevant updates to cross-functional services.

• Support teams in managing complex customer relationships.

• Actively support the commercial development of the department’s activities.

Lead, Organize, and Manage Activities

• Communicate and anticipate on strategy, challenges, changes, training, tool needs, alerts, feedback, etc.

• Translate company objectives into operational goals and define execution modalities.

• Organize the team’s activities independently and ensure proper follow-up.

• Analyze performance, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety, quality, environmental procedures.

• Report on activities to align with budgetary constraints.

• Promote collective problem-solving within the team and foster collaborative working conditions.

• Monitor developments related to their activity and ensure their implementation/application.

• Deploy continuous improvement methods within the team.

• Ensure and guarantee the safety of team members.

• Implement conditions that respect work-life balance and lead by example.

• Develop internal and external networks by coordinating with all relevant departments (management, sales, internal control, quality, etc.).

• Provide necessary support to the team in operational activities when difficulties arise.
