About the Role:

The primary responsibility of the position is the engineering development of commercial water chilling systems. The role includes leading the integration of mechanical system designs into chiller and split system new product development programs. In this capacity, the staff engineer will be responsible for leading a team to develop solutions that best meet the local/global market needs by integrating multiple technologies in the product. To do this, the staff engineer must have a strong understanding of the thermodynamics of the chiller system, chiller modeling, tube in shell heat transfer, pressure vessel design, refrigerant system performance analysis and compression application.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Thermodynamic based modeling and optimization of chiller system design, fluid filtration and pumping
  • Work cross functionally with service and operations teams to effectively launch designs into production
  • Develop chiller system architecture that meets or exceeds the product development requirements
  • Confirm product design performance, capability and reliability in the engineering product test laboratories
  • Collaborate with the product marketing teams locally to develop product requirements and ensure that the product meets their needs when launched
  • Prepare phased gate/process materials and present to senior leadership on regular basis
  • Execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components. Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.
  • Follow all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs.
  • Work toward commonality and optimization of product & components to reduce design errors and escapes.
  • Produce parts, specifications, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requests

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of mechanical engineering design experience

  • Master’s degree with 8+ years of mechanical engineering design

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project leadership experience, required
  • Extensive experience in a new product development, service and/or aftermarket space, required
  • HVAC industry experience required
  • Strong communication skills, primarily in English
  • Leadership and teamwork skills required
