This position reports to Plant Operations Manager and will work in Greenbrier, TN.
About the position
As a Product Support Engineer in the Operations team, you will be involved in enhancing existing products within a fast paced manufacturing/assembly facility. This position will require generous time spent working on the manufacturing floor to understand and keep current on the products manufactured at the facility.

Your main responsibilities
⦁ Oversee activities for, and improve the Design For Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Quality (DFQ) aspects of existing products at the product design level
⦁ Provide support to the operations production team to ensure that products are manufactured based on the intended functionality of the design.
⦁ Troubleshoot product design related concerns in manufacturing and direct the corrective actions to address those concerns
⦁ Investigate, research, and collect information for new and ongoing projects related to the product support role for the overall improvement of the products manufactured at the facility
⦁ Design product modifications and/or develop process improvements as needed to meet existing standards, or for the purpose of product quality improvement and/or cost reduction
⦁ Develop, implement, and maintain the manufacturing processes, the QC test methods, and the related documentation required to manufacture every product within its specifications, schedule, and budget
⦁ Perform documentation activities that include functional testing of products to ensure that customer specifications are met
⦁ Initiate and coordinate Engineering Change Request and Notice (ECR/ECN) activities
⦁ Initiate and coordinate Request For Deviation (RFD) activities
⦁ Identify and implement Cost Improvement Project (CIP) activities
⦁ Review PPAP reports and provide disposition for Product Engineering
⦁ Coordinate product testing with the internal test lab manager
⦁ Participate in warranty return activities and direct corrective actions for product design related concerns
⦁ Interface with Purchasing, Materials, Manufacturing and other internal teams to determine solutions to problems with existing products
⦁ Ongoing verification for existing product documentation for current products
⦁ Other engineering related duties as assigned by department manager
A suitable background would be a solid experience within Product Support Engineering as well as the following qualifications and experiences:
⦁ Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required; (equivalent working experience may be considered)
⦁ 5+ years of work experience in design related roles
⦁ 5+ years of work experience using SolidWorks or other parametric modeling software
⦁ 5+ years of work experience using Microsoft Office products, PDF editors and other typical business-related software programs
⦁ 5+ years of work experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment
⦁ 5+ years of work experience with an MRP (ERP) system (experience in an AS400 or similar environment is a plus)
⦁ Working knowledge of multiple level BOMs in multi-component products
⦁ Working knowledge of marking up existing drawings, BOMs, and item master information for purposes of making changes to the same
⦁ Basic working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems
⦁ High level of attention to detail for product documentation
