Production Scheduler

Summary of Position: Conduct daily production scheduling activities that supports the sales and operations planning while maximizing labor usage and ensuring a high level of customer service. Work with manufacturing leaders to ensure optimal schedule levels in accordance with plant capacity and key performance indicators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Sequence production orders for production floor onto daily schedule
- Ensure materials are available for planned schedule, and plan shipping requirements to meet scheduled ship dates
- Review upcoming schedules and determine action to fill and/or balance jobs to fall within production capacity.
- Monitor the current day’s schedule for updates and evaluate changes needed for priorities of work
- Batch orders into production jobs to initial start dates for production lines
- Released batched jobs to production schedules
- Review various planning reports to understand and calculate future demand and actions to be taken to accommodate to meet customer needs
- Move jobs on schedule when necessary, watching ship dates
- Process production order changes
- Create DMR (Damaged Material Report) operations for replacement of damaged material to be scheduled and meet on time and complete requirement
- Interface with Inside Sales and production personnel in order to meet customer requirements
- Implement proactive improvement of processes and procedures to maximize capacity to improve results of key metrics and customer satisfaction.
- Support Lean and the continuous improvement process
- Apply Lean principles in own work performance and drive Lean applications in company operations.

Education and Experience –
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Former production scheduling experience preferred
- Related work experience in a public manufacturing entity
Special Skills -
- Interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
- Team player, willing to cross train and take on new assignments
- Computer proficiency –Excel, Outlook, ERP/MRP,
Work Environment:
Usual office working conditions with occasional (5%) exposure to the production environment (heat, operating machinery and noise). Office duties require sitting behind a desk, performing tasks on a computer. Position involves limited travel. No significant physical exertion required.
