What we are looking for:

Yazaki is looking for a motivated Summer Intern to join our Component Engineering team in Canton, Michigan.  The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, results-oriented environment and is eager to make meaningful contributions to the organization. This internship runs full-time from May 12, 2025 to August 15, 2025.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Our team is responsible for the full life cycle (from the gathering of design requirements to product support) of injection-molded plastic and stamped metal components. Intern projects would support these activities by various means including benchmarking product, creating hand-modified or 3D printed mock-ups, creating drawings, making CAD studies, performing Instron testing, making validation plans, and more.
  • Our goal would be for you to finish this experience understanding the basics of component design after having applied these skills in a hands-on environment.
  • Specific expected outcomes would include contribution to the progress of our vertical integration projects and supply chain mitigation efforts.
  • You would collaborate with experienced engineers responsible for full product development and support projects as well as your direct supervisor and other, cross-functional, members of the Yazaki organization.

What you will bring to the table:

  • Enrollment in a 4-year degree program (Mechanical Engineering is preferred) at an accredited institution at the time of internship
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0.
  • Commitment: Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks between May 12, 2025, and August 15, 2025
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • At least some exposure to 3D CAD. Solidwo
