The Opportunity

As an Accounting Associate, you will work with the Global Finance team and serve as a resource for an assigned function: Accounting Operations, Financial Reporting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Project Accounting, Global Billing, Payroll, Statutory Accounting, Treasury, Tax or Financial Application team. 

Duties may include: 

• Preparation of general ledger entries and reconciliation of accounts.
• Basic level accounting duties of assigned projects, such as: revenue recognition, transactional accounting and invoicing.
• Provide basic analysis of financial information & prepare forecasts and budgets.
• Assist with researching, resolving variances, coding of costs, and audit deliverables. 
• Prepare and coordinate necessary government compliance filings.
• Monitor and balance systems to ensure completeness and accuracy and research differences. 
• Prepares monthly/quarterly basic balance sheet analysis and journal entries for consolidation, financial statements and various reports.
• Identifies risk and opportunities and assesses reasonableness of balances. Recognizes impact of interfirm transactions and related elimination process. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited university.   
• One to two years of relevant work experience. Previous internship experience is preferred. 
• Skilled with using Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Knowledge of Black and Veatch Systems and percent complete accounting is preferred.
• Knowledge of technical accounting, financial statement analysis and foreign currency terminology and concepts. 
• Skills with Organizing, Planning, Written Communications, Informing, Peer Relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

Work Environment

Professionals located near a Black & Veatch office have the option of a hybrid work model that offers a balance between working together in person and the flexibility of remote work. Our hybrid work model means you will work three days in the office and two days from another location of your choice. 

This hybrid role is located in Overland Park, Kansas.
