Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

Verify and update insurance benefits.  Initiate pre-certification process and coordinates with parents to ensure authorizations are obtained. Maintain communication with payers, Patient Financial Services, providers, ancillary departments, and other hospital services to ensure the facilitation of the authorization, pre-certification, and appeal process. Review all psych accounts, identifying those accounts where re-authorization is required. Notify clinicians and families. Accepts, document, and file all authorizations and pre-certifications received from providers, families and payers.  Complete full registration process as needed. Maintain knowledge of government, managed care and commercial insurance requirements by attending educational seminars as appropriate.  Manage denied Psych claims until they are resolved, including but not limited to re-coding and appeal processes.

KSA:

1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or two or three years related experience and/or training.
2. Solid knowledge of Excel required (linking and creating formulas).
3. Performs other duties as assigned.
4. Math and accounting experience preferred.
5. Ability to enter or key high volumes of data rapidly and accurately required
6. Analytical skills in order to identify incorrect errors.
7. Bank reconciliation experience required.
8. Experience with electronic remittance advice software preferred.
9. EPIC experience a must.
10. Knowledge of physician billing workflow, third party payer procedures, governmental regulations and managed care contracting to effectively understand and to respond to inquiries on patient accounts.
11. Excellent customer service skills, professional, self-confident, dependable and a team player.

Pay Range

$19.50-$30.23 Hourly
