The Process Engineering Associate Director is responsible for the supervision of the process engineers and engineering technicians that support the daily operations of the facility. The Process Engineering Associate Director is also responsible for the productivity and development of the employees with the purpose of ensuring that reliable and compliant equipment and systems are used in the manufacturing of bulk drug substance. Additionally, the Engineering Associate Director partners to influence and implement within the process engineering organization and across functional disciplines to support the process engineering technical agenda, business plan priorities, and compliance plan objectives.
Responsibilities:
Administrative Leadership
- Supervise and coach process engineering staff, including completing performance reviews and development plans.
- Staffing including recruiting, resource planning, and succession planning.
- Process engineering work coordination.
- Review and monitor financial performance, commit to meeting targets.
- Develop and implement the Process Engineering Business Plan.
Operational Excellence
- Demonstrate a commitment to environmental, health, and safety (including PSM).
- Identify, track, and report key indicators of functional performance.
- Ensure team is operating in a state of substantial compliance.
- Develop and implement Engineering business plan objectives.
- Remove barriers that impact team performance.
Organizational Capability
- In coordination with engineering consultants and other IAPI engineering areas, set and reinforce standards for appropriate rigor in engineering work products and utilization of First Principles.
- Assure focus by engineers and completion of critical assignments with appropriate monitoring and reporting.
- Be a fully active member of the flow leadership in running IAPI, including participation on management sub-teams.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in a field of engineering, preferably Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering manufacturing-related experience, preferably some biosynthetic and/or purification or chemicals experience.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- State licensure as a Professional Engineer is not required but is encouraged.
- Language: English
- Ability to instill teamwork within the department and demonstrate key interpersonal skills.
- Ability to ensure appropriate technical depth and rigor with departmental technical deliverables.
- Successful application of organizational models through recruiting and retention of employees.
- Ability to make decisions independently and to network with others as appropriate.
- Ability to provide innovative solutions to plant, divisional, and corporate issues and leverage ideas from other functional areas.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to various audiences, particularly one-on-one coaching and feedback with direct reports.
- Ability to function in a team environment as a leader and as a member of management teams.
Additional Information:
- This position serves an 8-hour Monday through Friday work schedule. Situations may arise where off-schedule work, both on-site and off-site, will be required.
- This position requires less than 10% travel on an annual basis.
- This position requires 24/7 availability with a cell phone.
- Tasks require entering manufacturing and laboratory areas which require wearing appropriate PPE.
