ROLE SNAPSHOT

As a Security Engineer for Mobile Network Security, you are part of an exciting team where you will utilise and develop your networks and cloud security knowledge and technical skills to:

  • Contribute to the design, build, integration, and operation of a various security capabilities within Telstra’s Mobile networks.
  • Define and implement security solutions tailored to the unique requirements of 5G mobile infrastructure, including Kubernetes on Bare Metal, internal Private Cloud platforms and Telecommunications networks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security is an integral part of the network infrastructure.
  • Leverage Telstra’s best practice security methodologies, frameworks, tools, and processes to design and build network engineering and technology solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with Telstra’s Network and Security team members to undertake Security Solution Design, Security Operational Readiness, Change Implementation, and Platform Support.
  • Communicate Information Security policies, standards, and procedures for Network and Cloud technologies, fostering security awareness within the team.
  • Document your work to ensure business continuity, security, and seamless operational support.
  • Apply a continuous learning and development mindset to your work, investing time and effort into building your knowledge, skills, and understanding of industry best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Support your team in conducting continuous improvement initiatives, such as enhancing and improving CI/CD capabilities (testing, automation) to reduce cycle time while retaining quality.

  • Technical skills across OpenStack, LINUX, Docker, Kubernetes, TCP/IP Routing Protocols, SDN, and virtualised networking.
  • Knowledge and experience with OpenStack, Kubernetes, and Network Automation.
  • Experience with security tools and practices related to Network, Cloud and DevSecOps.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
  • Knowledge of OpenStack and Kubernetes security features including Authentication, Authorization, Secure Communication, Encryption, Role-based Access Control (RBAC), Auditing and Logging.
  • Ability to discover, review, and implement innovative approaches to securing the internal Private Cloud platforms and Telecommunications networks.
  • Understanding of traditional and Cloud native network security components (firewalls, proxies, security groups, identity and access management, MFA, threat prevention, vulnerability management, secrets, and certificate management, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Agile tools and methodologies.
  • Ensure solutions are re-usable, scalable, reliable, manageable, secure, and operable, aligning with the Telstra’s technology strategic directions and meeting any specific OKR’s.
  • Proven hands-on experience in automation/scripting as Python.
  • Confident interpersonal skills to collaborate with other Security and Mobile team members for security engagements and integrations with external systems.
  • Written and verbal communication skills and good English comprehension.
