Manages the financial and administrative activities for the assigned department. Partners with department chair, director of administration and finance, or other administrator in the school/ center/ department.

Job Responsibilities

  • Will serve as lead BA for all pre-award and post-award Basic Science Research
  • Direct and manage the department's financial operations. Prepare, manage, and control budgets and monitor expenditures. Oversee payroll, purchasing and travel activities. Prepare multi-year budget prep and annual financial close
  • Oversee suspense/anticipated and effort reporting
  • Supervise, train and develop assigned staff. Coordinate activities of staff. Coordinate training and professional development
  • Determine frequency and format/design requirements for essential management reports such as monthly expenditures, year-over-year comparisons financial statements, and other required reports
  • Responsible for strategic projects and planning with department leadership in coordination with DAF
  • Serve as liaison and maintain business relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Exercise resource stewardship to ensure compliance with related policies and procedures
  • Design and implement business controls to ensure integrity of financial data and financial statements; implement audit procedures
  • Serve as department representative for PSOM initiatives
  • Prepare and present full faculty meeting presentations
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
