In this role, you will report to Supervisor I, On-Site Services and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel – and our customers – to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Springhouse, PA 19477

Schedule: 1st Shift M-F/ 7:30am to 4pm

What we’re looking for  

·       Education: Bachelor of Science required, certified by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) in HT/HTL preferred.

·       Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in histology/necropsy, experience in performing necropsies (mouse, rat) is required, Trimming, processing and embedding tissues required, microtome experience required, preparing slides including special stains is required, trouble shooting skills for technical challenging experimental conditions, experience in microscopy.

·      Collaboration Tool: Knowledge of Information intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel

·       Preferred Qualifications:  

• Conform to all company and customer requirements for background checks, health and safety issues, security clearances.

• Excellent Customer Service Skills; displays a professional can do attitude.

• High regard for safety, quality and adherence to protocols, policies and procedures.

• Ability to self-manage and self-motivate; forward thinking.

• Ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

• Ability to communicate effectively with both the customer and internal contacts.

• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:

• Perform necropsies (mouse, rat, minipig).

• Protocol review, study set-up and all associated routine and special procedures. Maintains histology files.

• Proficient in histology activities: Trim, process and embed tissue.

• Microtome sectioning.

• Prepare histologic slides for H&E and special stains.

• Digitally scan slides.

• QC all procedures performed in the histology laboratory.

• Organize, prioritize, and schedule with flexibility and high standard of performance.

• Safely dispose of hazardous and biologic waste following EHS guidelines. 

• Document all information obtained in studies according to established procedures.
