Shift: Days, start/end times vary, 8 hour shifts
Job Description:
PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, and adolescent. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the V.P. Patient care Services/ Chief Nurse Officer the R.N. Clinical Education Manager provides oversight of the Clinical Education process through assessment, development, planning, implementing and evaluation of competency assessment and continuing education of the Nursing staff. Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. Independently performs general and unit-specific clinical skills. Contributes to the Sierra View Medical Center Department of Patient Care Services and the nursing profession in a positive manner.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
Integrates department’s services with Hospital’s primary functions and overall plan for care delivery. Assumes 24-hour, seven (7) day responsibility, authority and accountability for ensuring the department and all individuals in the department achieve mission and service expectations for delivering appropriate and safe care of patients.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a Registered Nurse (R.N.) in the state of California and have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Masters of Nursing (MSN) or Nursing Education (MSNEd) Degree required or in progress to be achieved within 3 years of accepting the position. Masters degree in other healthcare related field may be accepted with demonstrated staff/patient Educational experience. The individual should also have evidence of leadership skills, successful interpersonal relations, and accepting increased responsibility in supervision, administration, and education. They must demonstrate skills in assessing Educational needs, the preparation and presentation of in-service or patient educational programs, and evaluating educational programs' effectiveness. The individual must have two (2) years of clinical experience and certification in one specialty area of practice (examples: ANPD, CNL, CCRN, PCCN, MSRNC, NEC, CEN) .
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.
Ability to develop and present routine reports to groups and prepare correspondence.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
