About the role

This is a full time grant funded position. The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) Program Assistant II is responsible to the County Extension Director and works under the direction of the EFNEP Area Specialist and is responsible for teaching educational programs to youth, 3rd-12th trades, and adults regardless of age, race, color, national origin, sex, religion, disability or veteran status.  Provide the youth and adult audience with opportunities related to 4-H, Agricultural, and FCS endeavors that reflect positive life skill development.  Responsible for teaching prepared curriculum and preparing materials that support the program.  Responsible for maintaining the program’s

  • Work cooperatively with all county Extension staff for the implementation and teaching of the program. Teaches youth and adults and already planned curriculum in the appropriate program area. 
  • Assist Extension agents in planning monthly programs and provide leadership to county clientele. Train volunteers to help with county program. 
  • Assist with program member enrollment and reports, as well as prepare monthly program materials. Provide information and documentation for evaluation of impact regarding programs represented by Extension back to the department.
  • Other appropriate duties as assigned by the Extension Agent/County Director.  Assisting with provided information of printed and web-based publications for programs to the county. 

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: Two to three years of related experience desired
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:   
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Word Perfect.
    • Teaching skills to adult and youth. 
  • Successful applicant must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license
  • Clear background check will be required.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Experience teaching youth and/or adults

Work Location – Onsite at the UT Extension Shelby County office in Memphis, TN.
