SCHEDULE: Sports teams have daytime practice Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, with home and away games/matches Wednesday and Saturday. Season begins August 27th, ending November 8th. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs.

Position Purpose
Instruct/ coach teams and individual students in the fundamentals of Field Hockey. Demonstrate techniques and methods of participation. May evaluate athletes' strengths and weaknesses as possible recruits, or to improve the athlete’s technique to prepare them for competition.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions in collaboration with team coaches.
- Provide training and conditioning direction, encouragement, and motivation to prepare athletes for games, competitive events, and/or tours.
- Promote a culture of sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and respect among team members.
- Foster an environment that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, and character development.
- Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to the sport.
- Adjust coaching techniques based on the strengths and weaknesses of athletes.
- Instruct individuals or groups in sports rules, game strategies, and performance techniques.
- Evaluate athletes' skills, and review performance records, to determine their fitness and potential in a particular area of athletics.
- Support student athletes in their college recruiting process providing guidance, resources, and recommendations.
- Represent the field hockey program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship and values of PEA.
- Transport athletes to games with academy van or minibus.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- College degree preferred.
Experience
- Has played field hockey in high school or college or has reached a level of expertise in the sport as an adult through participation coaching or through a formal coaching development program.
- Experience club coaching preferred.
- Experience in an academic institution preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work and will require the ability to remain standing for extended periods of time, go up and down flights of steps, lift and push heavy objects as well as stoop, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift.
- Physically able to act quickly in emergencies.
- Ability and dexterity to grasp and grip and safely operate sports equipment.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 25lbs without assistance.
Additional Requirements
- Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).
- Clean driving record (reviewed annually).
