The Protected Communication Systems (PCS) team is hiring a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to support programs for our US military and various international customers, keeping the world safe from foreign threats. PCS supports multiple Collins contracts and is seeking to fill roles across several open contracts – our goal is to align each new hire with a position that best suits their skills and allows for career growth. As a Senior Principal Systems Engineer, you will be a leader within an Integrated Program Team (IPT) developing architecture, refining requirements, guiding system development and integration, supporting test development, and working closely with our customers and suppliers to ensure we deliver world class solutions.
What You Will Do
• Act as a technical lead in the identification and delegation of work to senior engineers and functional peers
• Organize and lead the development of full lifecycle solutions from CONOPS to Validation while collaborating with the customer, subcontractors, Engineering Review Boards, and executive leadership
• Organize and lead lab activities including setup, configuration management, and testing
• Ensure Modeling, Hardware, and Software Interfaces utilize a scalable ontology
• Mentor several professionals with varying levels of experience
• Own the preparation, cost, and schedule of Design Reviews as well as Integration, Dry Run, and Formal Qualification Testing
• Influence decision-makers with recommended courses of action across complex problems
• Review and document major changes in systems or processes to solve complex problems
Qualifications You Must Have
• Practical experience across the full Systems Engineering V – from CONOPS development to Sustainment
• Knowledge of or application of Earned Value Management System
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams of design professionals including electrical, mechanical, software, test, logistics and other system engineers
• Extensive Experience with audio (hardware or software) systems, including fielded, networked, protected products
• Extensive Experience developing and presenting technical and strategic visions to internal and external audiences
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
• Experience with Nuclear Command & Control (NC3) programs for STRATCOM, E-4B, E-6B, and/or other Strategic initiatives
• Experience with systems support to software and hardware development
• Experience with system and application integration
• Experience with computer networking and system security for ground-based, ship, submarine, or airborne platforms
• Experience organizing and leading agile integrated product teams
• Experience with Defense Red Switch Network or comparable secure voice communication systems
