Job Description

IHI Power Corp has an opportunity for a Water Truck Driver at our Sunnyside coal mine location in Utah.

Job Summary

A mining water truck driver job involves operating a water truck to transport water within a mining operation, often through various terrains and weather conditions; may include performing daily inspections, maintaining the truck, adhering to safety regulations, and potentially using machinery for loading and unloading. Also retain the truck water, adhere to DOT regulations, and participate in safety protocols.

Job Functions

• The primary responsibility is to drive the water truck safely and efficiently, transporting water to designated areas within the mine site.
• Drivers are expected to perform daily inspections of the truck to ensure its safe operation and report any issues.
• Adherence to all applicable safety regulations and company policies is crucial, including using proper PPE and following safety protocols.
• Depending on the specific job requirements, drivers may also be involved in tasks like operating other types of equipment, assisting with water supply maintenance, or helping with other duties as needed.
• transport water to and from mining sites, ensuring adequate water supply for dust suppression, equipment cooling, and other essential functions.
• Operating a water truck to transport water to and from various mining locations, including surface and underground operations.
• Using the water truck to spray water on roadways and other areas to suppress dust, which is crucial for health and safety in mining environments.
• Providing water for cooling mining equipment to prevent overheating.
• Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring the truck is in safe operating condition, and reporting any issues.
• Completing paperwork such as Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), Bill of Ladings, and other required documentation.
• Adhering to all DOT regulations, company safety protocols, and operating procedures.
• Communicating effectively with supervisors, dispatch, and other team members to coordinate deliveries and ensure smooth operations.

Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

• High School diploma or equivalent level of work experience.
• Valid Driver’s License Required
• 1 to 2 years of experience
• Experience with a variety of trucks is a plus
• Experience with crude and pneumatic trailers is a plus
• Successful completion of applicable Pre-Employment drug testing and formal background checks.
• Must be able to perform the physical demands of the assigned position.
• Must possess a solid level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

• Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communication skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
• Must be cooperative with those he/she contact in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision.
• Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
• Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
• Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
• Basic data entry/computer skills
• Work as a team. Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all of the business challenges.
