Research Patient Navigator

Overview:
We are actively seeking a Research Patient Navigator to join Seattle Children’s Research Institute. The position will average .6FTE (approximately 24 hours/week).
Responsibilities:
Work with patients and families to help them interact effectively with the healthcare system and provides education to better understand their child’s brain injury and treatments. Address barriers and work to increase trust and self-efficacy among families accessing and navigating the health care system. Facilitate effective communication between families, their primary care physicians, and community providers. Facilitate the transition to school after discharge from the hospital. Support the implementation and evaluation of the 1stBIEN behavioral intervention.
We developed an innovative program, called Brain Injury Education and Outpatient Care Navigation (1st BIEN), that aims to give Hispanic parents tools to help their children recover from Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs). This program is based on our research and informed by Hispanic parents, community organizations, and by clinicians from Seattle Children’s and the University of Washington. The program is designed to:
- Help Hispanic parents understand the unique health challenges that go along with TBIs.
- Empower parents to participate in their child’s rehabilitation.
- Make it easier for Hispanic children with TBIs to receive outpatient rehabilitation services by using bilingual community care coordinators to address structural barriers.

Required Education and Experience
Two (2) years of healthcare experience.
Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology.
Experience and demonstrated ability in providing direct services to diverse families.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office applications.
Confirmed proficiency in a second language is required for this role - Bilingual in both English and Spanish.
Required Credentials

Preferred
One (1) year of care coordination or care management experience.
Experience in community outreach and collaboration.
Established community relationships.
Experience in community-clinic settings.
Compensation Range
$28.44 - $42.66 per hourSalary Information
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
