Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an exceptional individual to join our global data center controls organization as a Program Manager. We are a team of customer-obsessed controls engineers and project managers pioneering the next generation of automation systems for AWS data centers. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the Controls organization’s large scale initiatives. You will secure program funding, navigate the Change Management process, and oversee and manage vendors as they execute key program deliverables. Along the way, you will use your judgment, ability to influence, analytical talent, technical aptitude, and leadership to collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders across multiple time zones, manage capital budgets, eliminate non-value-add activities, remove blockers, and find creative ways to accelerate project delivery.
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator (both written and verbal), not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities, and have an understanding of building automation concepts. They will be able to apply a variety of project management tools, methodologies, and techniques for all phases of the controls project lifecycle and exhibit demonstrated experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, and reporting and metric development/tracking.
Key job responsibilities
· Lead technical program and project discussions across cross-functional teams
· Facilitate cross-collaboration and understanding between Controls and other departments
· Support roadmap-planning process
· Develop strategies and implement tactics to follow through on those strategies
· Solve complex business problems within allocated time and budget
· Influence others across the company to remain focused on desired outcomes without direct authority
· Travel Required 5% of the time.
Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree AND 3+ years of project management experience OR 5+ years of project management experience (experience can be substituted for degree)
· 3+ years of experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management
· 2+ years of experience in analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations
· Experience with MS Project, MS Office, and MS SharePoint
· Master’s Degree or advanced professional degree
· Advanced professional certification in management of complex, technology infrastructure projects
· 3+ years of relevant data center controls work experience
· Experience in managing data center controls deployments
· Experience with and deep understanding of multiple project management methodologies
· Experience of leading matrixed teams and individuals across multiple locations
· Well organized and able to work effectively under time pressure
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
