The Senior Software Engineer applies the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of software and systems that drive modern computing. This role involves researching, designing, developing, and testing software systems, including operating systems, compilers, network distribution software, and applications for various industries such as medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, and scientific computing.
The Senior Software Engineer also ensures that software standards are met and develops logical and mathematical solutions to complex technical challenges, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, high-quality software solutions.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, normal business hours
PAY RATE: $72/hour
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and hardware engineers in planning, design, and development of software systems for product and commercial use.

Determine user needs and analyze system capabilities to address program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.

Design and develop compilers, assemblers, utility programs, operating systems, and database management systems.

Ensure software standards are met by analyzing user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility within time and cost constraints.

Collaborate with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and other stakeholders to design systems and gather information on limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.

Develop and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.

Coordinate software system installations and monitor equipment functionality to ensure specifications are met.

Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard sensitive information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification, or disclosure.

Develop standards and guidelines to ensure secure and efficient use of software and systems.

Approve, schedule, and supervise the installation and testing of new software products and improvements.

Review project requests to estimate time and cost required for database development or modifications.

Direct and mentor staff to write and code database descriptions and implement database management systems.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

A minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering or a related role, with a proven track record of developing complex software systems.

Proficient in computer hardware and software, with expert knowledge of development tools such as SQL, Visual Basic, and other programming languages.

Comprehensive knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including business/systems analysis, requirements gathering, functional specification authoring, development, testing, and delivery.

Recognized authority within the organization with expertise in solving complex technical problems and delivering innovative solutions.

Exceptional verbal and written communication, problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills.

Expert ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and mentor team members with constructive feedback.

Advanced troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve system issues effectively.
