About the role

The Algorithmic & Electronic Trading Applications Development Senior Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing strategic results through the leadership and management of multiple teams or departments. This role is tasked with establishing and implementing new or significantly revised electronic trading and algorithmic application systems and programs, in close coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective is to drive advanced applications systems analysis, design, and programming activities within the high-performance electronic trading domain. The role carries co-equal ownership of three domains — Fixed Income execution algo, full trading-desk tooling, and RFQ workflow — including their technology stack, roadmap, and engineering teams. The incumbent serves as the primary technology partner to Fixed Income trading desks at varying stages of electronic evolution, ensuring Citi maintains and extends its position as a leading Fixed Income franchise.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the design, architecture, and delivery of Fixed Income execution algorithms, collaborating directly with trading desk end-users to enhance execution quality and delivery velocity.
  • Trader tools build-out – Lead the design and build of full-featured, front-to-back trading applications — order/execution management (OMS/EMS), pricing and quoting interfaces, position and risk views, and real-time desk workflow tooling used by traders.
  • Own the end-to-end RFQ workflow — auto-quoting, request routing, pricing integration, dealer-to-client / dealer-to-dealer venue connectivity, and straight-through processing.
  • Lead and develop multiple engineering teams, including performance management, hiring, and, ensuring adherence to best practices and Citi policy.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships across regions, presenting regular project and team reviews to senior management and business leaders.
  • Collaborate with globally distributed eTrading teams to build and leverage shared solutions, maximizing platform reuse.
  • Oversee budgeting, planning, policy formation, disaster recovery, and change management with appropriate controls and regulatory compliance.
  • Assess and manage risk in all business decisions, ensuring transparency, ethical conduct, and compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Lead and develop multiple teams of professionals focused on electronic trading and algorithmic applications to accomplish established strategic goals. Conduct comprehensive personnel duties (e.g., performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions) and ensure teams adhere to best practices and robust development processes tailored for trading systems. Develop a clear vision for the team around roles and responsibilities, and structure teams to ensure the greatest impact, efficient use of resources, and optimal alignment to business structures within the electronic trading landscape.
  • Prepare and present regular team/project reviews, including strategic initiatives and performance metrics for trading applications, to senior management and business leaders.
  • Drive the strategic design and advanced development of system architecture for low-latency, high-throughput electronic trading platforms. Work closely with end-users and trading desks to enhance the quality, reliability, and performance of deliverables. Ensure staff adheres to Citi documented policy and procedures, as well as maintaining desktop procedures and supporting documentation for all trading system filings on a current basis and in a comprehensive manner.
  • Monitor and strategically manage the approach and end results of electronic trading application initiatives, including budgeting, planning, policy formation, and contributing to the future technology strategy for the electronic trading domain.
  • Ensure all changes to trading systems are managed with appropriate controls, comprehensive documentation, and necessary approvals, including the implementation of new and revised regulatory reporting requirements for trading activities.
  • Research and resolve complex technical and business issues related to electronic trading, provide expert recommendations, and escalate to senior management as needed.
  • Manage and maintain all disaster recovery plans for critical trading applications, oversee appropriate testing, and provide permit-to-operate for new or significantly updated trading systems.
  • Lead and deliver local staff forums, presenting global, regional, and location news and updates to engage the team in the progress of the organization, particularly concerning electronic trading technology advancements and market developments.
