Position Overview:
We are a fast-growing commercial landscape construction company looking for a motivated individual to join our talented team as a Safety Coordinator.
Job Location:
You will report to the Safety Manager and will work out of the Kent, WA, office. This role is 80% field based (visiting our job sites around Western Washington) and 20% office based, with some occasional travel to the corporate office in Hillsboro, OR.
Experience Requirements:
- 1-2 years of experience working in Commercial Construction or a related field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct jobsite audits ensuring compliance with internal, federal, and state regulations in Washington.
- Initiate, coordinate, and direct training specific to job hazard analysis.
- Manage the jobsite orientation process pertaining to safety and obtaining/reviewing appropriate documents as well as new hire safety orientations.
- Assist in conducting accident investigations according to internal procedures by obtaining required reports from employee(s) and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Assist in interpreting, analyzing, and preparing documentation concerning reports, contracts, and site-specific information, including OSHA 300 reports.
- Communicate and enforce company safety standards to all related parties involved in a job.
- Coordinate with General Contractors regarding customer policies and jobsite requirements.
- Ensure that adequate, properly trained personnel are available to carry out required functions safely on all current and prospective projects.
- Assist in managing workers’ compensation claims.
- Further the safety education of all staff members through formal classes, seminars, workshops, and sharing information company-wide.
- Monitor site safety communication to maintain training effectiveness such as signage, toolbox meetings, etc.
- Assist in editing and updating SDS and MSDS reference books and OSHA reports.
- Ensure all required postings are on-site and kept updated consistent with regulations.
- Track and renew employee field training and certifications.
- Schedule training to minimize impact on productivity.
- Empower all employees to make safety their first priority.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of construction safety experience preferred
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Current OSHA 10 certification
- Fall Protection Certification
- Commitment to continual development and renewal of required certifications
- Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations
- Ability to read, comprehend, and recognize safety standards and issues
