The Team supporting the Clinical Nurse Consultant – Endocrinology & Diabetes (533295) at the Department of Health Tasmania is a dedicated and specialised group committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals living with endocrine and diabetes-related conditions. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the group values continuous improvement, innovation, and strong communication, while also providing leadership, guidance, and education to staff, patients, and carers to enhance service delivery across the health system.

The Role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Endocrine and Diabetes (Adult) provides advanced clinical expertise within a multidisciplinary framework to support individuals and their families or carers in managing endocrine and diabetes conditions through primary care, education, and advocacy. The role involves undertaking complex triaging and assessments to guide optimal care planning and treatment pathways, while delivering specialist education to clinicians, patients, and carers to enhance understanding and self-management. Operating with a high level of professional autonomy, the CNC contributes to service development, clinical advice, and intervention strategies, while also supporting workforce capability through education, mentoring, and supervision of healthcare professionals and students. In addition, the role provides clinical leadership, and drives change management initiatives to support the Royal Hobart Hospital Diabetes Centre’s strategic objectives, including the development and implementation of models of care, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

You will need 

• Provide leadership that exemplifies safe and effective client-centred care, utilising evidence-based practice principles, sound clinical decision-making processes, and a significant knowledge and experience in endocrine and diabetes education, management, support, and stabilisation.
• Perform dynamic endocrine testing by utilising the Harmonisation of Endocrine Dynamic Testing guidelines, local protocols, or guidelines in collaboration with the endocrine department.
• Utilise evidence-based diabetes care principles, insulin therapy protocols, and continuous glucose monitoring technologies to optimise diabetes management in adults with diabetes. Including the provision of motivational interviewing and validated tools to enhance diabetes self-management.

Details of appointment

Permanent part time, day worker position, working 48 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary

$118,297 to $125,543 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

• Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
