Occupational Summary
The Material Control Coordinator (MCC) serves as the Air Force ROTC (AFROTC) Uniform Custodian. The MCC plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates detachment inventory in keeping with established goals and objectives.
Reports to: The MCC receives direction from and provides status to the Uniform Program Custodian (UPC). The MCC is supervised by the Program Coordinator, AFROTC.
Shift: Normal weekday 1st shift hours apply, the MCC may be required to adjust the work schedule to accommodate department/student schedules. Any deviations from the normal hours will be coordinated in advance.
Worked Performed
Uniform Program Oversight & Compliance
- Conducts the AFROTC uniform program in accordance with applicable Duke University and United States Air Force regulations. Ensures department and students comply with all requirements according to regulations.
- Manages and communicates procedures to provide controls to ensure proper issue and return of uniform items or payment. MCC is responsible for contacting previously enrolled AFROTC students to request recovery of students’ uniforms.
- Compiles, prepares, and submits accounting and inventory reports and summaries in an accurate and timely manner. The MCC will accomplish a quarterly uniform inventory between January and December.
- Conducts and documents inventory prior to UPC and/or MCC departure using the internally developed uniform inventory tracking system.
- Purges unused, unserviceable, and excess items from the equipment and uniform accounts. Turns in excess uniform, supplies, and equipment to host base supply in accordance with local procedures.
Uniform Supply, Fitting & Inventory Management
- Orders, requisitions, receives, safeguards, accounts for, issues, and returns AFROTC students’ uniforms and associated items as required. This may require periodic trips to a military clothing sales store or other local vendors to procure uniforms and associated items.
- Places stock by type and size in bins or storage shelves. Conducts periodic inventories of uniforms and associated items and maintains stock at appropriate levels based on stock, budget, and requirements. Maintains stock in a neat and orderly manner.
- Performs initial and subsequent sizing and fitting for AFROTC students’ uniforms and associated items. Issues items to students in accordance with regulations and supplemental guidance. This may require periodic trips to a local tailor, commercial laundry/dry cleaning establishment, or other vendors.
- Uses the DLA Warfighter Uniform System to order and issue clothing and associated items to AFROTC students.

Anticipated Pay Range:
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $18.00 to USD $24.57.
