This is a two-year limited term with the opportunity for renewal based on the success of the program. The successful candidate will be passionate about working with graduate students and building collaborative relationships with program managers, career staff and faculty, particularly those in targeted Option III programs. This position is supervised by the Associate Director of Advanced Degree Employer Integration and works closely with the Advanced Degree team in Texas Career Engagement.

Purpose

The Program Manager for Advanced Degree Career Management leads career planning curriculum, programming, resource development and employer outreach for master’s students at the University of Texas at Austin. This position is also responsible for conducting individual and group advising to prepare students and alumni to navigate career decisions, prepare applications and effectively manage their career in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborative Career Program and Resource Development: Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify unique career needs for target master’s programs and deliver career programming and resources specific to those programs with a focus on sustainability and scale. In collaboration with the Advanced Degree Team contribute to the development and teaching of core career workshops (e.g., resume, interviewing, negotiation) and signature programming to ensure master’s student target needs are met. Lead outreach, communication, organization and delivery of program requests and work closely with the team to create effective career content and workshops for master’s students, focusing on career advancement and career changing. Design communication strategies that maximize content and resource utilization and drive attendance to recruitment and career education events.

  • Individual and Group Career & Professional Development Advising: Provide career advising and coaching specifically for master’s students, requiring specialized knowledge of STEM career paths for early to mid-stage professionals. Types of advising can include meeting with students and scholars in person, through video conference, and by phone on topics ranging from application document preparation, career changing, career advancement, exploration and planning, interviewing, negotiation, and decision-making strategies. Design peer-led and group advising structures that are scalable over time.
