CEI Project Engineer

STV is seeking a CEI Project Engineer for our CEI / Construction Management team in Texas. This position is for the Austin, TX area. Experience gathered in this position will be related to project management, construction methods for the construction of roadways, bridges, and related structures in accordance with plans and specifications, problem resolution on complex projects, contract administration, change order evaluations and dispute resolution. This position will assist the Resident Engineers and/or Project Managers with oversight of all assigned work.
The candidate must demonstrate the following:
- Should have experience managing inspection and testing teams, managing projects or coordinating tasks of moderate size and complexity, function independently and resolve complex problems in a timely manner.
- Will develop and monitor construction budget requirements and oversee construction contracts partnering efforts.
- Reviews and monitors construction Plans, Specifications and Estimates, shop drawings, submittals, manage change orders, manage supplemental agreements, manage memorandum agreements, manage extra work orders, and assist with contract administration matters.
- Demonstrate knowledge of applicable material testing methods, processes and procedures; and provide oversight of construction operations.
- Review monthly and final estimates prior to submittal.
- Master/Possess an extensive understanding of roadway construction standards and practices.
- Oversees contracts, issues work orders and monitors construction schedules and contractor payments and job progress on construction projects.
In addition to project delivery responsibilities, a candidate must demonstrate the following:
- Ability to lead construction engineering teams comprised of professional engineers, technical and/or clerical employees to include assign, direct, coordinate and review their work.
- Capability to manage financial and personnel resources to achieve project management cost control.
- Assesses and reports actual project progress versus planned progress to determine trends and variances for complex projects.
- Ability to coordinates transportation planning activities, which may include working with municipalities or adjoining projects.
Furthermore, the candidate must possess the following leadership traits:
- The ability to represent the company at various meetings and/or serve on various committees, workgroups and teams. The work requires contact with governmental officials and the public stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing and capable to manage public relations for maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both internally and externally.
- Perform other job requirements within the candidate’s skills.
- Flexibility to travel to construction sites for extended periods and work outside of normal business hours to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and to provide technical support.
- Must be a team player with the virtues of integrity, loyalty, respect, and strong work ethics.
Qualifications and Experience:
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Engineering with P.E. license in the State of Texas (or other states a plus).
- 10-15 years of experience in heavy civil construction preferably roadways, bridges, and utilities in Texas.
- TxDOT experience is desired.
- Valid driver’s license
Additional Information:
- Monitor worksite safety and ensure compliance with all OSHA standards and STV Health and Safety Plans (HASP).
- Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
- Required to wear protective gear-respirator, hard hat, or other device.
- Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
- Balancing-walking, standing, crouching on various surfaces without falling.
Compensation Range:
