Why This Role Matters
The world's leading auction house, Christie's, is currently seeking a Features Writer to join their NY-based editorial team. Reporting to the Managing Editor, Americas and working closely with editorial, video, production, and social teams, this fast-paced dynamic role will serve as the focus on all written editorial stories for the fine art categories within the Americas. They will be responsible for developing and writing engaging articles on deadline.
How You Will Make An Impact
Work across all categories to engage department specialists, find and develop editorial stories
Write engaging articles across a wide array of categories, including single object features and thematic stories Ideate and develop new and evergreen stories to live on Christie’s website
Conduct insightful interviews with specialists and artworld luminaries for use in stories and stand-alone editorial pieces
Utilize SEO best practices to optimize searchability
Support the weekly creation of Christie’s weekly Going Once newsletter with stories
Edit and fact-check stories to ensure accuracy
Ensure timely publication to strategically align with marketing, press and pre-and post-sale deadlines
Partner closely with production team by prepping stories or publication
Update existing content with new information as needed
Light image research work if required ad hoc
What You Will Bring To The Team
3-5 years in a similar role at fast-paced auction house, gallery, museum, digital publication or agency
Demonstrated art historical knowledge, from classics through contemporary art
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong editing skill a plus
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Team player with a proven ability to juggle multiple projects while adhering to tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple functional teams
Demonstrated ability to remain calm in stressful situations and creatively problem solve
Ability to maintain confidential information
