Security Officer

Description

FUNCTION:

Non-exempt position. Perform industrial security and associated functions as an unarmed security officer.

DUTIES:

· Man personnel and vehicle gates to ensure only authorized individuals and vehicles enter the active area.

· Enforce Corporate and Company security procedures.

· Make designated security checks of site and buildings after hours and during inclement weather conditions.

· Inspect vehicles and handcarried items for prohibited material, issue dosimeters and safety equipment.

· Issue badges and control keys.

· Make roving patrol every 2 hours after operations hours, checking for fire, unauthorized persons, vehicles, safety hazards, etc.

· Able to work with the Public and other employees in a courteous and professional manner.

· Record accurate and timely information on routine logs, investigations and reports.

· Set security alarm systems as necessary.

· Perform general maintenance of security building.

· Perform additional duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Occasional field/site work as required where there is exposure to noise, dust and cold/hot temperatures (approx. 50%). Normal office environment (approx. 50%).

Requirements

· Willingness to work with radioactive and/or hazardous material.

· Successful completion of a physical examination, drug test and security background check.

· Willing to perform security functions as a shift worker.

· High School graduate or equivalent.

· Security or law enforcement experience preferred.
