Schedule Requirement: Full-time; open availability including weekends and holidays is required. Flexibility required for peak harvesting periods and seasonal demands.

Position Summary
The Diversified Agriculture Technician at Moli‘i Orchard is responsible for supporting the growth, productivity, and overall maintenance of our tropical fruit orchards. This position plays a vital role in the long-term success of our diversified agriculture program by helping to establish and maintain efficient, sustainable orchard systems. Current crops include cacao, mixed citrus, avocado, mango, and other tropical fruit varieties.
Under the guidance of the Diversified Agriculture Site Manager, the Technician will assist with orchard management, irrigation, harvesting, and site upkeep while adhering to best practices in food safety and land stewardship. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work and has a passion for sustainable agriculture.
Key Responsibilities
• Orchard Management: Support with tree planting, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, and pest control to maintain tree health and fruit production.
• Irrigation & Infrastructure: Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution.
• Harvest & Post-Harvest Processing: Harvest tropical fruit and assist with post-harvest handling such as washing, sorting, and packing for distribution.
• Site Maintenance: Mow, weed, and maintain orchard grounds. Participate in erosion control and soil health improvement efforts.
• Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain small farm equipment including tractors, weed whackers, mowers, and hand tools.
• Recordkeeping: Track crop progress, log harvest and pest control data, and assist with food safety documentation.
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other field technicians and provide support during special projects and seasonal initiatives.
• Other Duties: Support other farm-related activities as assigned, including site expansion and new crop trials.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working outdoors in hot, humid, rainy, or muddy conditions.
• Frequent walking, standing, bending, and kneeling on uneven terrain.
• Manual labor including planting, pruning, mulching, and harvesting.
• Exposure to agricultural inputs (fertilizers, compost, pest control products).

Minimum Qualifications
• Prior experience in farming, horticulture, or related agricultural work.
• Basic understanding of irrigation, fertilization, and plant care techniques.
• Ability to safely use and maintain farm tools and machinery.
• Dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in orchards or with tropical fruit crops.
• Familiarity with sustainable and regenerative agriculture practices.
• Ability to operate tractors or other mechanized equipment.
• Basic computer skills for entering farm logs and records (training provided).
