In this position... 

The Global Supply Chain Manager plays a pivotal role in developing and executing strategic global purchasing and sourcing initiatives for a portfolio of critical materials, parts, and services. This role demands strategic thinking, strong leadership, a proven ability to manage complex projects across diverse internal teams and external partners, and a commitment to driving significant change. 

 

The successful candidate will be a catalyst for broader supply chain transformation, championing innovation, and acting as a role model and trendsetter. This requires resilience, exceptional business acumen, strong negotiation prowess, and a "play-to-win" attitude. 

What you'll do...

  • Develop, execute, and continuously refine global purchasing and sourcing strategies for assigned categories/commodities, encompassing competitive bidding, advanced cost analytics, leading complex negotiations, and comprehensive contract execution. 
  • Strategically manage the total cost of ownership, quality performance, and on-time delivery for commodities across multiple critical programs, driving efficiency and value. 
  • Lead proactive cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders (e.g., Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance) to deeply understand evolving requirements and provide innovative, end-to-end sourcing solutions. 
  • Champion the development and implementation of advanced cost modeling tools, negotiation frameworks, and methodologies to drive superior financial outcomes. 
  • Cultivate and manage complex, strategic supplier relationships, fostering innovation, ensuring timely delivery, proactive issue resolution, and robust risk mitigation. 
  • Continuously monitor global market trends, industry developments, technological shifts, and material indices to proactively identify opportunities for significant cost savings, product enhancements, and disruptive innovation within the supply chain. 
  • Lead the development and negotiation of creative, long-term commercial agreements that align with Ford's strategic objectives and foster a culture of partnership and mutual growth. 
  • Ensure rigorous compliance with company policies, procedures, ethical standards, and champion sustainable and responsible purchasing practices. 
  • Drive the strategic onboarding of new suppliers and implement robust supplier performance management frameworks, including innovation metrics. 
  • Initiate, lead, and drive significant continuous improvement and transformation initiatives within the supply chain, challenging the status quo and implementing best practices. 
  • Develop, manage, and optimize budgets and resources allocated to purchasing and supply chain initiatives. 
  • Desired Technical Areas of Expertise:
    • Exteriors – Fasteners, etc.
    • Underbody – Suspension, brakes, transmission / driveline, etc.
    • IPTS – Engine (ignition, valvetrain), Pumps, Exhaust, Radiator, Cooling, etc.
    • Interiors – Driver Interface Area, Instrument Panel
    • Digital Tech – Electronics Low Voltage Modules, Electronics High Voltage, Software, Etc.
    • In the near future Ford could have needs in other commodity areas, including but not limited to those related to new technologies (e.g., autonomous driving, connected services), strategic initiatives, raw materials, or evolving business needs

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field. Master's degree (e.g., MBA, MS in Supply Chain)
  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in purchasing, supply chain management, or commodity management, with a proven track record of leading negotiations, driving innovation, and managing complex projects. 
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, diverse materials, and end-to-end global supply chain dynamics, including emerging technologies. 
  • Proficiency in advanced analytics platforms, strategic sourcing software, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
