Job Description:
Location: Detroit, MI (Hybrid)
Overview: The Carat Content Director will lead the content specialty for General Motors, reporting to the SVP of Content. You will encompass content strategy, development, client oversight, and staff management. You will foster a positive working environment, collaborate across teams, and develop integrated content ideas from conception to execution. Building relationships with clients and media partners is important, as is active participation in the media community.
Main Responsibilities:
- Service Line Delivery:
- You will ensure collaboration across all agency departments.
- You will foster teamwork and develop relationships with senior partners.
- You will coordinate with external client agency teams (media partners, creative, PR) on shared deliverables.
- Client Service:
- You will build relationships with mid-level and senior clients.
- You will be a client partner and define team structure/resources.
- You will attract top talent and build a team.
- Communication:
- You will be the clear client lead for all content efforts with our teams and creative agencies.
- Coaching and People Management:
- You will promote inclusion within the content team and ensure a healthy team culture.
- You will lead team career development, provide feedback, and approve goals.
- Culture:
- You will be a role model and ensure team behavior aligns with agency and client values.
- Participate in optional culture/diversity training and programs.
- Media-Led Content Specialty:
- You will lead daily business on all media-led content elements.
- You will approve media-led content work before client submission.
- You will lead content RFP processes and provide oversight for internal meetings.
- You will ensure content aligns with brand goals and foster creativity in plans.
- You will educate teams on content specialty and capabilities.
- Organization & Prioritization:
- You will escalate issues to Carat leadership and ensure client needs are met.
- Track projects and assist with prioritization.
- Storytelling:
- You will write concise recommendations and ensure strategic work aligns with brand brief and strategy.
- Analytics:
- You will collaborate with the analytics team to support plans and storytelling.
- Client Budgets:
- You will escalate budget issues to SVP and recommend solutions.
- You will manage negotiation of non-media fees and track investment details.
- You will oversee supplier invoices and compliance with client financial processes.
- Delegation:
- You will manage team workload and monitor work distribution.
- You will escalate bandwidth issues to VP.
- Innovation:
- You will prioritize innovation in the planning process using insights to guide ideas.
- Experience:
- You will contribute to internal expertise through knowledge sharing and case study development.
- You will create external expertise content and participate in public opportunities with approvals.
- Business Development:
- You will support new business pitches with time, expertise, and content skills.
- Commercial Skills:
- You will understand client scope and consult with SVP.
- You will maintain detailed project records and present client-facing materials.
- You will identify opportunities to grow scope organically.
- Contract Management:
- You will develop staff plans and SOW, understanding team structure and requirements.
- You will manage SOW, staff plans, and discipline use.
- Dentsu Services Skills:
- You will familiarize with service line offerings and establish relationships for potential growth.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in content, influencer marketing, experiential marketing, or advertising.
- Experience managing a team and encouraging staff.
- Project management skills.
- Experience working with multiple brands, teams, or clients simultaneously.
- Proficiency in content strategy and development.
- Build relationships with clients, agencies, and media partners.
- Understanding of media plans, landscape, and partner capabilities.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours and travel.
