About the role

DroneUp is seeking a Cost Accountant to provide value-added analysis by preparing, monitoring, reporting, and communicating various financial metrics to ensure the company runs efficiently. This position will reside within the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team and support activity related to budgeting and cost analysis. This role will assist in monitoring business spend by preparing and analyzing budget versus actual results with robust analytics. In addition, this role will assist with the annual budgeted process as well as long-term modeling. This is a key role within the FP&A function.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor spending to ensure expenditures are within approved limits
  • Organize, compile, and analyze monthly budget versus actual results
  • Work with accounting team to prepare robust analytics and explanations on variances
  • Build financial statement models for current and forecasted revenues and expenses
  • Provide analytics and strategic recommendations for achieving financial goals
  • Assist in annual budget process
  • Identify strategies and tactics to drive continual improvement from a budget management perspective
  • Ensure FP&A models handle all forms of internal reporting needs
  • Develop, create, review, and ensure all budget decisions are documented and controlled
  • Continually improves the FP&A models to better handle all forms of internal reporting needs
  • Translate data into visualizations and actionable insights for manager
  • Determine and measure key cost drivers, particularly gross profit by various segments
  • Assist in development of short-term and long-term systems which support FP&A
  • Maintain allocation methodologies and other costing tables within ERP system
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience as an analyst or in a similar position
  • Data management and analysis skills, merging several data sources using best practices
  • Proven proficiency with models using Microsoft Excel
  • Proven Analytical skills must be able to analyze information and provide recommendations
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Exposure enterprise level ERP applications a plus
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to project outcomes
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Desire to work in a dynamic environment with entrepreneurial spirit

Salary:

$60,000 - $70,000
