Summary

At DSV, The Senior Manager of National Local Operations will oversee and optimize our local dispatch operations across the country. This Senior Manager will be responsible for managing teams of operations managers and their teams of dispatchers and ensuring efficient coordination of transportation services across various locations. This role requires strong leadership skill, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of logistics and transportation management.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize dispatch operations, improve efficiency, and meet business objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of operations managers to ensure they perform at their best and meet performance targets.
  • Continuously assess and improve dispatch processes and workflows to streamline operations and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet demand and ensure timely delivery of services while optimizing costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including but not limited to safety regulations, labor laws, and transportation regulations.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize dispatch software and technology solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy in dispatch operations.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and measure the performance of dispatch operations. Take corrective actions as necessary to address any issues or deviations from targets.
  • Collaborate with vendors and third-party service providers to ensure seamless coordination of transportation services and maintain positive relationships.
  • Work closely with customer service teams to address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor P&L performance of each operation.
  • Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, including contingency plans for unforeseen events or disruptions in operations.
  • Collaborate with various teams to identify opportunities for business growth and revenue generation through strategic dispatch operations.
  • Implement initiatives to drive sales, expand market share, and enhance profitability while maintaining high standards of service quality and customer satisfaction.

Educational background / Work experience / Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Supply Chain and Logistics specifically in local asset trucking strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and State regulations
  • Understanding of TMS, Dispatch software, and ELDs

 

Language Skills

  • Business fluent in English
  • Preferably good command of local language

 

Computer Literacy

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and others)

 

Physical and/or Mental Requirements / Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand.  The employee is often required to walk and use hand and eye coordination.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.   

 

Work Hours and Environment

Normal working hours for this position are Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, however, working beyond these hours will often be required by business needs.
