Group Summary

The Team Marketing & Business Operations (TMBO) Department is a unique in-house consulting group within the NBA league office that drives best practices and innovation across all NBA, WNBA, NBA G League, and NBA2K teams. Essential Functions and Job Summary

The Youth Fan Development Analyst will support the Youth Fan Development consulting efforts of TMBO’s Marketing & Digital Strategy function, helping NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League teams use youth participation and engagement to grow their businesses and develop the next generation of fans. Working as a key member of a lean team, the Analyst will support team consulting engagements and league-wide Youth Fan Development efforts through research, benchmarking, data analysis, best-practice development, preparation of team-facing recommendations, project coordination, and educational programming. The Analyst will advise teams on engagements across youth touchpoints spanning grassroots basketball participation; content, social media, gaming, and digital experiences; live and in-arena experiences; school and community programs; and other channels, helping identify opportunities to connect these efforts to fan acquisition, first-party data acquisition, CRM growth, ticket sales, partnership value, and long-term customer development. The role will also consult teams on creating a broader content and digital ecosystem across league and team-owned platforms. While Youth Fan Development will represent the primary focus of the role, the Analyst will also consult teams on broader Marketing & Digital Strategy initiatives and contribute to TMBO advisory efforts as department priorities evolve. In addition, the Analyst will support cross-functional projects across Marketing & Digital, Ticketing & Game Experience, Partnerships, Basketball Operations, Social Responsibility, Data Strategy & Analytics, Digital Consumer Products (DTC), WNBA, NBA G League, and other league departments. The role requires strong strategic consulting, organizational, communication, project management, analytical, and relationship-building skills.

Major Responsibilities

  • Support Youth Fan Development consulting engagements with NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League teams by conducting analyses, preparing meeting materials and recommendations, coordinating project workstreams, and tracking key follow-up actions
  • Research and synthesize industry trends, best practices, benchmarks, and innovative approaches, which can help teams leverage youth participation and engagement to develop the next generation of fans and drive long-term business growth
  • Develop team-facing resources, including playbooks, toolkits, benchmarking reports, case studies, training materials, and executive-ready presentations, that translate research and team insights into actionable recommendations
  • Analyze team approaches to acquiring, engaging, and retaining youth and family audiences, and identify opportunities to strengthen integrated strategies across participation, marketing, content, digital, CRM, ticketing, partnerships, and fan development
  • Consult teams on connecting youth strategies to measurable business outcomes, including first-party data acquisition, CRM growth, group ticket sales, partnership value, attendance, and ultimately the long-term development of the next generation of NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League fans
  • Support data collection, performance tracking, and reporting to benchmark team performance, evaluate results, and surface opportunities for teams
  • Coordinate cross-functional work across Marketing & Digital, Ticketing & Game Experience, Partnerships, Basketball Operations, Social Responsibility, Data Strategy & Analytics, Digital Consumer Products (DTC), WNBA, NBA G League, and other league departments to bring relevant expertise into team-facing work
  • Work on collaborative projects with the NBA’s DTC team to identify opportunities for teams to leverage emerging technologies and league and team-owned digital platforms – such as the NBA App and team digital properties – to better engage youth audiences and strengthen fan acquisition
