Job Description

This position is responsible for providing global product regulatory support for ITW Evercoat and associated brands. This individual will lead and execute projects related to compliance of global regulations of chemical products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Key responsibility of this role is leading ITW Evercoat’s product stewardship program. This role will ensure compliance with global regulations of chemical consumer and commercial products. This position requires the aptitude to anticipate problems, critical issues, and opportunities as they arise along with the capability to problem solve and bring together viable solutions for the business.  

  • Proficiency in classification and labeling under the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) international standard.
  • Authoring Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for the business, in global regions as required.
  • Direct work experience with the following directives/regulations; California Resource Board, Prop65, California Safer Consumer Products, EU Chemical Substance Directives and Regulations (CLP/RoHS/REACH/WEEE), US CPSA/FHSA, US EPA TSCA.
  • Extensive knowledge of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) standards.
  • Approve product labeling for compliance with applicable local, national, and international regulations; analyze and recommend appropriate changes.
  • Provide consultative internal and external customer support related to hazard communication and product compliance.
  • Classify products for transportation, including air, ground, and ocean transport.
  • Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, commercial, and procurement functions to ensure product stewardship reviews are conducted for raw materials and product introduction within the desired region.
  • Identify regulatory challenges relevant to commercial opportunities and collaborate cross functionally to solve them.
  • Monitors and manages communication of Product Stewardship regulatory issues.
  • Develops and executes all regulatory required training in line with state and federal guidelines.
  • Participate in trade, industry, and government association activities.
  • Support and work cross functionally with Environmental regulations and standards of chemical products.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Advanced degree in Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology, or science/technical related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 plus years of direct work experience in a product stewardship role working for a manufacturing organization to include direct knowledge and work experience with chemical control product regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant regulations. Ability to interpret State and Federal regulations and applicability to facility to ensure compliance.
  • Experience utilizing and maintaining SDS authoring systems (UL WERCS Authoring Studio preferred).
  • Demonstrated professional integrity through competency assessment - professional certification, Safety Data Sheet Registered Professional (SDSRP) credential.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Ability to complete regulatory reports, business correspondence, procedures, and manuals.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills
