Summary
The Arizona Department of Public Safety is seeking knowledgeable and experienced law enforcement personnel to staff the Major Incident Division (MID). This division was established to perform criminal investigations of critical incidents involving the discharge of a firearm by a peace officer due to a use-of-force encounter.
This recruitment specifically seeks experienced and skilled applicants for the Scene Capture and Reconstruction (SCAR) Team. SCAR specializes in processing, capturing, analyzing, and reconstructing incident scenes, with an emphasis on Officer-Involved Shootings and other Critical Incidents. SCAR uses advanced technologies such as laser scanners and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to document scenes.
Examples of duties
- Conducts incident scene investigations involving law enforcement use-of-force.
- Locates evidentiary items and documents information for criminal investigations.
- Testifies in court as required.
- Composes extensive reports, memorandums, and other correspondence.
- Makes presentations for internal and external customers.
- Prepares various reports (statistical, activity, administrative, etc.) as required.
- Works with other law enforcement agencies in planning, coordinating, and conducting investigations.
- Prepares court cases and testifies as a witness.
- Maintains liaison with other law enforcement agencies, court systems, and the public to promote a cooperative law enforcement atmosphere.
- Utilizes LIDAR scanners, drones, and other tools to preserve spatial data for crime scenes.
- Transforms captured scene data into deliverables, including registered point clouds, 3D models, and spatial visualizations.
- Produces diagrams to support investigations.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE OF:
